Continuing to highlight my fascination with street art of all kinds, here are photos I took in Vienna, which turns out to be one of the best cities for such art that I have visited (other tops spots include: Valparaíso and Santiago, Chile; Buenos Aires, Argentina; Rio de Janeiro and Salvador da Bahia, Brazil; Bogotá, Colombia; Madrid, Spain; and Brighton and London, England).
The interesting thing about Vienna is that it is a classical European city full of wonderful architecture and is super clean and structured. So, you don’t actually see any street art in the main parts of the city where a tourist is likely to go. However, venture just a bit out of that area to the banks of the Donaukanal (“Danube Canal”) and you will hit the street art jackpot. I have since read that there are a few outlying neighborhoods that also have good collections but, unfortunately, I didn’t know about them when I visited and I wouldn’t have had time to see them anyway. Still, along the banks of the canal I took more than 200 photos.
